It has double height ceilings, sprawling views and it’s very own beach
Michelle and Barack Obama have just bought a stunning £9.2 million waterfront home on Martha’s Vineyard, an affluent vacation island inMassachusetts.
Thesprawling 6,892-square-foot house sits on 29.3 secluded waterfront acres overlooking Edgartown Great Pond, with views of a barrier beach and the ocean beyond.
Sold by LandVest property company, the property comes with an outdoor swimming pool, sun decks and balconies, a boathouse, and private beachfront. Inside, there are seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a powder room and several stone fireplaces.
Aside from the elegant master suite there are also two guest wings, plusa two-car garage and a detached barn. The interiors have beendecorated in neutral tones with natural wood accents.
There’s no shortage of entertaining spaces for the Obamas. On top of the private beachfront and swimming pool area, the home also comes with multiple decks and balconies for sunbathing, plusa hot tub on a second-floor balcony, andan outdoor screened-in porch with an outdoor fireplace. For entertaining, there’s a cinema space and games area.
The property even comes with it’s own modern chef’s kitchen.
The Obamas have summered on the Vineyard for years, and they aren’t the only politicians who are fond of the coastal New England area. The Clinton family has spent time there, and former Secretary of State and Massachusetts Senator John Kerry bought a home there in 2017. Red Gate Farm, the former estate of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is currently on the market there for $65 million, according to LandVest.
The home was designed by Brandenburger Taylor Lombardo Architects from San Francisco, with multiple areas for entertaining, both indoors and out. The living room has vaulted ceilings, exposed steel beams and a stone fireplace, the listing said. There are two guest wings, and the master suite boasts a fireplace, a private sun deck and water views. There’s a chef’s kitchen with ample built-in storage and a formal circular dining room overlooks the grounds and pond.
